What are 'Smart lights'? 

  • Smart lights can be controlled in a variety of ways to change brightness, warmth or colour. The smart lights that Smart Home Brisbane offer work with standard light fittings and down-lights for easy compatibility and low installation costs.
  • We offer a range of modern lighting products such as light bars for the back of objects and light strips to put above cabinets or under overhangs to give indirect light.
  • Outdoor varieties are also available that are weatherproof and can give a new look and feel to your outdoor area and backyard!
  • All of the lights that we use are compatible with Google Home, Amazon Echo and Apple Homekit. All of our lights can be controlled using your voice or an app and can be dimmed, brightened or set to your schedule or a timer so that they turn on and off or dim at set times. The lights still work as normal lights with a light switch so things don't get too complicated.

What are the most common types of smart lights?

Bulbs

Smart bulbs are the cheapest and easiest way to add smart lighting to your house. The only installation required is to set up the bridge (if required) and connect each bulb to your home. They cost around the same as a normal light bulb and last for a minimum of 25 000 hours. They can be dimmed using your smart assistant and can also change colour. If you are out on holidays the lights can even learn your habits and mimic your lighting routine if you are away to make it look as though you are home. 

Downlights

GU10, 90 or 100mm down-lights can be made smart with dimmable, warmth changing and colour changing options available.

Spotlights

Smart spotlights can add colour and contrast to your area or subject as their brightness and colour can be controlled to set the mood or change the feel of a room.

Light fixtures

Smart lighting fixtures are a fantastic way to add contrast and colour to a room. They can be installed into any standard wiring and come in distinct colours and designs. 

Mirrors

Smart lighting mirrors are a powerful addition to any bathroom or powder room. They are water resistant so they will not be damaged if you have a warm shower and are bright enough to light up a room. Their brightness can be dimmed and can be connected to accessories such as motion sensors and turn on at night when you walk half asleep (or awake) into your bathroom.

Ceiling and wall lamps

Smart ceiling and wall lamps can give a fresh look and feel to any room. They can be automatically controlled using your smart speaker and can dimmed or brightened. They are water resistant so they can be installed into bathrooms.

Outdoor lights

Smart outdoor lights are a fantastic addition to your yard or veranda as they can add light and a new feel to your areas. They can display over sixteen million colours, so the choice is yours! You can use motion sensors to automatically turn on set lights when motion is detected. They can also sync to your music and can be used to create an amazing outdoor party. All of the lights are weatherproof and are powered using a wall outlet (for pedestal and spotlights) or need to be wired in (wall lights).

Light strips can add ambience and a new look to a room. They can add light in places that you have never thought of and can display over 16 million colours.

Light bar

Light bars can add even more immersion to your movies or TV shows or set the mood in a room. The light bars can be used to create ambience or add light to a room. The wall light bars can be used as a piece or art or be a new source of light for a room.

Wall lights

Wall lights are a great addition to an empty wall and can be configured in any way that you like. They can display over 16 million colours and are touch and sound sensitive so they can react with their surroundings.

Accessories

Accessories are a powerful addition to your smart lights as they open a range of possibilities. The Dimmer Switch can be used along with your standard light switches to either add dimming functionality without having to use your voice or cycle through scenes. This means that you can set certain lighting styles (warm, white or any colour combination that you like) and cycle through them with the remote. 
The motion detector allows you to set certain lights to turn on when the sensor detects motion. You can set the bathroom lights to turn on when you walk into the bathroom or for your hallway lights to turn on at night and light the way. 

Portable // Mood lights

Portable lights are a great addition to add character and light to a room. They can be used outside with other lights to light areas that you don't always need to be lit. They can be used for splash-back lighting behind something or as an alarm clock in the morning as it slowly brightens, mimicking the sun. If the power goes out, they can still be used as backup lighting.
